Portable Speaker Water-Resistance Guide

Water-resistant does not mean waterproof in every situation. Protection depends on the exact rating, closed covers, water type, depth, time and product condition.
Read the IP code
The two digits describe solid-particle and water testing; an X means that part was not rated. Check the manufacturer’s exact conditions rather than guessing from a marketing phrase.
Protect charging ports
Close covers before exposure and never charge a wet speaker. Dry it as instructed and inspect damaged seals, cracked housings or loose port doors.
Pools and beaches
Chlorinated and salt water can be more damaging than fresh water, and many warranties exclude them. Keep the speaker stable and away from edges.
Plan outdoor use
Compare carrying method, controls, temperature limits, runtime at realistic volume and whether dust resistance is independently rated.
