Coffee Scale Accuracy, Timing and Calibration Guide

A useful coffee scale responds quickly, reads repeatably and fits the brewing setup. Extra decimal places do not guarantee laboratory accuracy.

Set up correctly

Use a firm level surface, keep the scale dry and prevent the brewer or cable from touching nearby objects. Tare the complete empty setup.

Watch response and drift

Add weight smoothly and note whether readings settle. Heat, vibration, airflow and low battery can cause drift; use a heat mat only when recommended.

Use the timer consistently

Start timing at the same brewing event each time, such as first water contact or pump activation. Consistency makes recipes comparable.

Check calibration

Use the specified calibration mass and procedure, not household objects of unknown weight. Keep the platform within its maximum capacity and clean without flooding controls.
